| Toy boats that sail come in many varieties
from boat type, size, propulsion method, material, control and of-course
cost. Each type of boat can lead to it's own world where the line
gets blurred quickly between entry level kid's fun toys and serious
enthusiast toys with corresponding escalation of cost. However they
are all great fun. |

| Pop-Pop Boats
These tin toy boats use the most simple marine propulsion
engine ever invented, no moving parts and run on candles, some on
alcohol, and others on fuel pellets. Because of the engine’s
remarkable efficiency, they have a much longer run time than most
modern electric motor toys. Invented in 1891 they became one of
the most popular toys in the world but sadly became relegated to
novelty status since the 1950's with the advent of plastic and household
batteries. They have an interesting history and are making a comeback.
