Remote Control Airplanes and Helicopters |
Slow Flyers
Slow flyers are small and lightly built remote controlled
planes for flying indoors, in a big room or a gym. They fly at about
walking speed, thus the name slow flyers. They can be flown outdoors
on a still windless day. They are nice for beginners since they do
not require great hand-eye coordination or lightning reflexes. The
slow speed gives ample time to learn and enjoy. Try to find one that's
ready to fly out of the box. Extra accessories needed for flight can
quickly drive up costs and complexity to prohibitive levels for beginners.

Park Flyers
These are slow flyers that are built a little stouter
and can be flown outdoors, in parks, yards etc. if the wind is minimal.
Both the slow flyers and park flyers represent the fastest growing
segment of the radio or remote control plane hobby, probably due
to the relatively inexpensive entry cost, maintenance and ease of
flying for beginners. If new to the hobby, be sure to pick one that's
"ready to fly" out of the box or RTF.
ARF designates an "almost ready to fly"
plane kit, meaning it usually requires a radio transmitter and battery
pack to complete. Little or no wind condition
and plenty of area is important for park planes
to fly as intended.
With a growing following of flight fans there are
several hobbyist website's that carry forum
discussion threads about flying park flyers and
they can be a source for valuable insider tips.
Through the discussions, beginners can get a feel of what it's all
about. To find them just google the name of the plane followed by
tips, review, mods etc. |

before attempting full throttle. |
